As the leaves turn in Central Park and the city lights begin to twinkle with that holiday glow, November in New York City is a beautiful time to have your New York moment. And for those of us venturing from the sunny skies of LA that refuse to turn chilly (hi, it’s me heading to NYC for a bit!), it’s the perfect autumn reset.

I pulled together a guide and mini calendar for myself from a bunch of different resources to help me make the most of this magical month in the city that never sleeps. (I will, however, be sleeping.) So I thought I’d share it! Here are some of the epic autumnal city happenings this November:

November NYC Events and Cozy Happenings

The Iconic NYC Marathon – November 3rd

NYC Marathon

Kick-off the month with an exhilarating start by cheering on the runners of the TCS New York City Marathon. Join the electric atmosphere as the participants take on a 26.2-mile journey across the city. It’s not just a race; it’s a celebration of human endurance and spirit.

Fall Foliage at Central Park – Early November

The Central Park Conservancy provides a fall foliage map to help you find the peak colors among the park’s 18,000 trees. Central Park Fall Foliage Map

Rooftop Cinema Club Midtown – Ongoing Series

These happen in so many cities! Trade the typical night out for a film under the stars. The holiday movie lineup is perfect for a cozy evening (read: layers and blankets) under the stars. NYC Rooftop Cinema Tickets

Sinister Secrets of the Seaport – November 11, 12, 29

Although Halloween is over, November does seem to be a perfect time for some chilly stories with a chill in the air. I’m not much into scary things or true crime stories myself, but even I’ll admit this sounds interesting.

NYC is so rich in history, this tour lets you dive into the dark history of the Seaport with a walking tour full of true crime tales. South Street Seaport Museum Tour

Lightscape at Brooklyn Botanic Garden – Starting November 17

This outdoor evening event combines art, light, and music for a tranquil escape and magical, illuminated stroll. Brooklyn Botanic Garden

A quintessential NYC experience and tradition that marks the start of the holiday season—the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a must-see! Every Thanksgiving morning as a kid, I would get so excited to turn on the Macy’s Day Parade. Giant balloons, whimsical floats, and performers parade down the streets of NYC, offering a vibrant, joyful experience for all ages.

This will be my first time seeing it in person—I’ll be watching on the Upper West Side (UWS)!

Radio City Magic – All Month Long

I know I grew up watching the Rockettes grace the stage at Radio City Music Hall—it always felt like a great kick-off (hehe) for the holiday season. This high-kicking spectacle is a New York November staple that dazzles with both insanely talented precision and festive spirit.

Holiday Bars: Miracle on 9th Street & Miracle on Union

After Santa has waved goodbye to the crowd at the end of the Macy’s Day Parade it’s officially Christmas season!! You can indulge in festive drinks at these holiday-themed pop-ups:

Ice Skate On a Skyscraper – Daily

Um, I just discovered this. You can ice skate on top of the Hudson Yards Edge building with the series they launched called Sky Skate. How cool! And also beats the fake ice rinks (like not real ice) they put out in LA every year (sorry, appreciate you trying SaMo). Sky Skate Tickets

Bronx Vegan Bazaar – Every Wednesday

Take a midweek break at the Bronx Vegan Bazaar. With over 20 vegan food vendors, this event is a delicious movement dedicated to health and local businesses. Even if you’re not vegan, check it out! Yes, yes I’ve heard it’s overrated but I want to check it out nonetheless. Traverse this elevated park for a fusion of nature, art, and urban vistas without spending a dime. Maybe I’ll even channel my NYC marathon watching inspo and go for a run there.
